G.J wires manufactures insulated wires for large Hydro and Turbo generators used in power generation plants.

The requirements of high reliability, high RPM induced mechanical stresses and remote locations of Hydro power plants and other factors demand high quality of components especially the windings. We have proven expertise in meeting the stringent requirements of dielectric strength, mechanical properties suitable for forming coils and Roebel bars, assembly and handling.

GLASS/DAGLAS COVERED WIRE

Wires for large machines are bunched and transposed to form a stator bar. Wire is prefered with minimum insulation thickness, 0.20 mm but shall be capable of withstanding transposing process. Wires are glass covered or daglas covered with or without underneath enamel coating. When the wires are transposed with automatic transposing machine where the insulation needs to be tough electrically and mechanically the wire is enamelled and further covered with Daglas or Glass or both depending on the insulation level. Here consistency of insulation thickness is of prime importance to have a consistent stack height. The coil lengths are normally in few meters the wire when cut to length need to be straight without any twist when laid on a plane surface. To meet this special requirements the wire is stress relieved at every stage of processing. The daglas or glass covering is varnished and cured and the varnished surface enhances bonding of the strands for better tan delta properties.
